The Society of St Vincent de Paul has launched a new fundraising campaign which predicts that the demand for the organisation's services will increase over the next few weeks.
The charity said many families are currently finding it very difficult to pay for food and fuel because of reduced income since the onset of the health crisis.
They said that their social income has also been greatly reduced since the closure of their shops due to the social restrictions introduced to combat the coronary virus. The organization has 234 stores nationwide.
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul has been providing relief to people for over 175 years and assisted over 160,000 people in Ireland last year.
