Since Snapchat released its small contents that expire after 24 hours, dozens of services and platforms have used the storie model to announce content and even give news. Even the media have found it interesting to replicate the Instagram model to offer their readers little information pills covered with photos, videos and memes that seem to have a much better impact.
So it was to be expected that Netflix would resort to something similar and, as we announced a few months ago, it has. This is a new section that they have called “Quick Laughs” (“Fast Laughs” in English) that highlights some important contents of the streaming platform through small videos that are consumed with a single click and that Netflix selects at will. And that have begun to arrive in a generalized way.
Touch the screen and ‘have a laugh’
What Netflix has developed is a curious section that takes the best of storie-style content consumption and puts it on screen with a purely TikTok layout. That is, when clicking on that new section we will see a short and funny clip of a series, a movie, a television program, etc. and that we can go through vertically to see the following. In this way, some titles are being promoted that we do not know or have on the radar of our tastes.
These quick laughs appear at the bottom of the Netflix home screen on both iOS and Android, since it is content expressly created for consumption on mobile phones and that quickly takes us from one clip to another of it. Serie, with the (logical) objective of inviting us to click and start to see it. Remember that this function has been in tests in recent weeks so, quite possibly, it has shown enormous effectiveness throughout that process.
It is true that if Netflix had wanted to make a more general section to sell us its productions, it could have done it differently, but in reality these quick laughs are a very interesting resource to smile thanks to especially funny passages of all its contents. At the end of the day, there are some series and movies that even forcing the situation would give for a fast laugh of these so if you have a bad day and want to lift your spirits, go to the Netflix app and touch the screen to take some laughs.
