News also for AirPods and AirPods Pro: Spatial Audio is coming!

There WWDC also brings a lot of news for AirPods. Apple has announced, surprisingly, that the wireless headphones will soon be able to enjoy some software innovations that will further expand the user experience.

Headphones they will be able to automatically switch between devices such as iPhone, iPad and Mac. But that’s not all, why on the high-end AirPods Pro comes the Spatial Audio function, which promises to offer a more immersive surround listening experience.

This will be possible through the use of the accelerometer built into the individual earphones, which will allow the software to keep track of head movements. In this way, the software on which the AirPods Pro are based will be able to remap the sound field, offering an immersive listening experience. In fact, authentic surround sound requires that the sound field remains fixed, regardless of the movement of the head or of the body in general.

The news was announced a few hours after the rumour that Apple may not announce any new AirPods model in 2020. During the WWDC keynote, Apple also unveiled the new iOS 14 and iPadOS 14.
