One of the most important events of 2020 is staged in London regarding the presentation of Samsung’s new Galaxy S20 series. Three new smartphones with important specifications that especially in the photographic field with the Ultra version capable of zooming up to 100X. Here are their specifications and how much they cost.

Not one, not two but three new smartphones are part of the Samsung’s new Galaxy S20 series. The company decides to abound in this 2020 and to do it first compared to other brands, in London in an international event where it reveals to the world what it can really do with cameras. They are in fact the most important aspect especially in Galaxy S20 Ultra, the true top of the range, which will allow users to even create 100x zoom but also many other things. We got to preview them in Monaco and we tell you all that we know officially about this new Samsung Galaxy S20 series.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra: the real top of the range

Numerical leap that aligns with the year 2020 and generational leap also for smartphones that take suffixes different from the previous series and change not so much in appearance but in their potential. Three different versions: Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 + and Galaxy S20 Ultra which in some ways is the flagship of the series with a true top of the range technical sector capable of aiming very high especially in smartphone photography.

Let’s start with him: the new Galaxy S20 Ultra from Samsung. What immediately catches the eye by looking at it in its appearance is undoubtedly the important structure put in place by the South Korean company at the rear for the camera. Here the rectangle is decidedly important in size due to the need to make room for the 4 cameras, one of which even with a periscope structure.

A 4 sensor camera one of which even from 108 megapixels with optical image stabilization and focal aperture of f / 1.8. The others? A 12 megapixel Ultra Wide Angle sensor capable of expanding the shooting scene, then a third 48-megapixel periscope sensor ready to guarantee 10x stabilized optical zoom but also 100x digital zoom. Finally, a last depth sensor capable of improving the shots in addition to the other main sensors. In detail here are the specifications:

  • Ultra Wide 12MP sensor with 1.4µm and f / 2.2
  • 108 MP wide sensor with 0.8µm (12MP 2.4µm), f / 1.8 + OIS
  • 48MP telephoto sensor with 0.8µm (12MP 1.6µm), f / 3.5 + OIS
  • Depth Vision

Huge potential for Samsung who wants to offer users a real camera-phone thanks also and above all to the fielding of so much artificial intelligence capable of making quality shots even in difficult situations. Here the company offers one as always myriad shooting modes which go from automatic to Pro, i.e. manual with the possibility to change the parameters for shooting as you like but also to other from panoramic to night shooting, super slow motion, slow motion shooting or even Instagram.

The absolute novelty of this new Galaxy S20 Ultra is the so-called “Single Take” that is, the mode that allows you to record both videos and photos automatically and simultaneously from all the cameras of your smartphone for a few seconds. Once taken or shot, the device in a completely autonomous way through Artificial Intelligence, will create a kind of album where there will be videos and photos taken in different angles ready to be shared or used for anything else.

On a video level, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra will allow you to record clips up to a record resolution of 8K clearly at 30 fps. The management work of the recovery will have to be extremely high but from the first tests it seems that the chipset and everything that includes the algorithm are able to guarantee these potentialities. Also interesting is the fact that it is possible, by covering a video recorded at maximum resolution, to make a screenshot that guarantees a photo even of 33 megapixels or in very high resolution.

Samsung for the first time in a while he decides to abandon the curved display on the sides almost completely. The new panel is however a Dynamic AMOLED with curved edges but less than in the past and this is undoubtedly an advantage for better usability especially on a large size such as that of 6.9 inches of this Ultra version. HDR10 + certifications but also a pixel density equal to 515ppi which allow the user to have no problems in viewing even the most demanding contents. Impresses the fluidity of the panel that we remember it for the first time in Samsung owns a 120Hz refresh rate. This means having a greater softness in browsing the contents as in creating swipes on web pages or in graphically more elaborate games.

The rest of the data sheet of the Galaxy S20 Ultra recalls the potential of the device with the presence of the new processor Exynos 990 presented in October and capable of 20% more performance than its predecessor. The processor integrates two Exynos M5 cores for maximum performance, two intermediate cores based on architecture Cortex-A76 and four cores Cortex-A55 designed for minimum energy consumption. The maximum achievable operating frequencies can reach 2.73GHz, 2.6 GHz and 2.0GHz) with the performance advantage of the new system which should be 13%. The GPU also improves: now one Mali-G77 in MP11 configuration. Two versions for sale with 12GB of RAM or even more powerful with 16GB of RAM and storage from 128GB or 512GB expandable up to 1TB via microSD.

Exynos 990 it does not have an integrated 5G modem, but you can rely on a dedicated chipset. The company has in fact announced a new modem of the Exynos family with support for the most modern mobile connectivity technologies, theExynos Modem 5123, direct successor to Exynos Modem 5100. The new model also represents a complete multi-band solution with support from 2G to 5G sub-6 networks, and full compatibility with the Mmwave. The new Samsung Galaxy S20 therefore rely on this specific modem for complete multiband with support for 5G (NSA or Non Standalone) sub-6 and mmWave networks.

Finally important aspects also concern the battery which in this case will be 5,000 mAh and it can also be recharged quickly via the supplied power supply but also with the support for fast wireless charging and with the possibility of recharging other devices.
