There is nothing worse than entering WhatsApp and seeing that you cannot receive or send messages to stay in touch with your family and friends. See that no new messages arrive or that those that are being sent remain as “undelivered” because they only show a gray tick, which indicates that they have remained on the server, or worse still, they show a clock symbol, which indicates they haven’t even left the device.

What can be done in such cases? What has happened? Maybe your WhatsApp account has been blocked -Something that will happen if you do not accept its new conditions of use before May 15th- but if you accepted them and have not carried out any prohibited action in the application that could lead to the suspension of your account, then you will have to find the reason the following:

Why can’t I send or receive messages on WhatsApp

First of all, you should check that there has not been a WhatsApp service crash. It is not something that happens often, but sometimes WhatsApp goes down. In general, we publish the news within a few minutes of it, and you can go to other social networks such as Twitter, where users usually complain when WhatsApp goes down with the hashtag #WhatsAppDown. You can also use services such as Downdetector, which monitor the activity of technology platforms and indicate when an error is occurring in the service of any of them.

If the problem is not with the WhatsApp service itself, then you have to look at the following cases:

-According to WhatsApp itself, if the problem is not theirs, it is most likely that you are in a poor Internet connection area and, therefore, you cannot send or receive messages. Check your coverage, if other services work, and change your location.

-If your mobile phone has good coverage and Internet connection, then there are other reasons why you may not be able to use WhatsApp properly. If this happens, try restarting your phone, turning it off and on again.

It is also possible that your messages do not arrive because that person with whom you want to speak has blocked your phone number. Learn here how to know if you have been blocked on WhatsApp.

Remember that if you have not completed the verification process when opening an account on WhatsApp, you will not be able to access all the functionalities either. Also, there are some phone models where WhatsApp is no longer available. Check the list in case yours is among them.

And finally, check that the number of the people you want to talk to is properly saved in your phone book. It is possible that you did not save it well and your messages are reaching someone else … or that no one has that phone number that you entered wrong.
